For Your Guy - 5 Ideas for Valentine’s Day

Ladies, it’s almost time for Valentine’s Day.  Yes, it’s a Hallmark holiday, but we know, deep down, you love it.  We also know that it’s not always so easy to find a good gift for us guys.  I’ve decided to give you a little help.  I’m going to give you a few ideas for things to buy your man that he should love (these are in no particular order).

1 - If your man is like me (and most of the guys I know), he probably doesn’t concern himself with good skin care products.  After much goading, I gave various products a try.  The days of Lever 2000, Dial, etc as face wash are over.  Try some of the products from Jack Black, Anthony Logistics, Pangea Organics, Mario Badescu or Sonya Dakar to name a few.  The range of the products is very broad.  There is no doubt you will be able to find something your man will end up loving.

2 - At least once a week, I think to myself, “I need to get a massage.”  How many times have I ever actually paid for a massage?  Zero.  I’m sure most guys are the same way.  That said, I would love to have a day to relax at a spa or just get an hour-long massage to relieve some of this ever-building stress.  Just about any city is going to have a spa that is somewhat guy-friendly (check SpaFinder for something close to you).  Get him a gift certificate or take him for a day of relaxation.  You can also probably find a place similar to Massage Envy where you can send your man for a massage.

3 - Just about everybody loves music, right?  If music is a passion for your guy, there’s little doubt that he likes seeing live shows and you probably know who he likes and doesn’t like.  Buy him a couple tickets to a show…either for you and him or him and another of his guy friends.  My favorite way to find shows coming up is to check Pollstar.  You can find a LONG list of shows coming to a town near you.  Surprise him with tickets to a show coming up down the road and he’ll be putty in your hands.

4 - Can he read?  Does he read?  I’ve rediscovered the joy that comes with reading a good book.  Get something tailored to his interests: sports, music, religion, politics, etc.  If he likes music, try “Killing Yourself to Live”.  Authors like Nick Hornby (“High Fidelity” and “About a Boy”) and Kurt Vonnegut have great books as well.  Stimulate his mind…he’ll thank you for it.

5 - Take him on a touristy tour of your city.  Most of us don’t know all the great things to be found in our own cities.  I, for instance, have never set foot in the Museum of Art, Sculpture Center or Ripley’s Believe it or Not.  Spend some time to figure out what makes your city unique and take him around to show him the sights.  You’ll both love it.  If your city is boring, find a cool city close by.

Obviously, there are tons of things you can get him, but I hope this helps you out a little.  I know I’d be happy with the list.

Happy Valentine’s from Fresh Radar!

Just bought my Hubby a massage today for the Red Letter day. Hopefully he’ll get to use it post baby (being induced on Friday the 13th) and he’ll really love it.
Thanks for the great article with great suggestions. Guys always get the “boot” when it comes to V-day.

Great article! Some very useful information. As a matter of fact, my husband usually begs me to give him a massage, and is always complaining of tension in his shoulders. He would probably LOVE to have someone who really knows what they’re doing work out some of that tension! Thanks!
