Chester French

Chester French

Here’s something fresh…Chester French is giving away an entire album for free

Two guys from Harvard, Max Drummey and DA Wallach, formed Chester French (named after the sculptor Daniel Chester French) when they decided that music was more interesting than their school work. After recording their album in a studio on the Harvard campus, they set out to find someone who would give them a chance. The music found the ears of Pharrell Williams (N.E.R.D.). He liked what he heard so much that he signed them to his label, Star Trak/Interscope.

The official debut album, “Love the Future” came out last month. They are giving away “Jacques Jams” for free, in hopes that you’ll like what you hear so much, you’ll pick up their debut. I’m sold.

Their music is drawing comparisons to the Beach Boys which, for any artist, is a huge compliment, but I think the music being put out by Chester French is too diverse to simply say that they sound like this band or they sound like that band. You may hear bits and pieces that harken back to music you’ve heard before, but the music made by Chester French is definitely their own unique creation. It’s hard not to be unique when your influences range from Jay-Z to Nine Inch Nails.

Hype behind the duo’s album has come from all over. Their song “She Loves Everybody” was in the premiere episode of the fourth season of “Entourage.” At SXSW (South by Southwest) in Austin, they were named a top pick by MTV. Who knew MTV still knew anything about music?! Rolling Stone even named Chester French to their “Artists to Watch” list in 2008. Even Perez Hilton, gossip queen, has gotten in on the hype. It’s time you do too!

For more info and to hear some of their music, take a look at their MySpace and Facebook pages.

I highly recommend you check out Chester French…after all, it’s a free download. With a catchy sound and diversity from one song to the next, you’re sure to find something you like.

Yeah, I think it’s really funny that they packaged their single like that. Very clever.
