Passion. When I’m gone, I want people to remember me for my passion. For music, for books, for style. Well, not just those things, but that’s where I’ll focus here on Fresh Radar. A great way to know people is to know their passions. Mine will be blatantly obvious and I hope they’ll find a way into your hearts, lives, minds… I hope you love what’s on my radar as much as I do.

I love stories because stories remind us that there are heroes. I love music because music reminds us that one must not become a hero in order to identify, or even create, something moving or beautiful. You’ll understand, then, why my radar is usually packed with music and books. Old tales, old tunes; new tales, new tunes.

The first movie I viewed was Star Wars, the first “album” I purchased was Guns & Roses on cassette tape and the first story I read on my own was from The Green Fairy Tale Book. These experiences will help you know who I am and the types of influences that have helped sculpt my taste into what it is today. The things that are on my radar will help you sculpt your tastes going forward through your life. There is no group of people who totally agree on what is great, but you can develop a community based on common threads… common interest. I look forward to helping develop a different community.

Derek Burkett

Automobiles, cigars, restaurants, fashion, and shoes (specifically Air Jordan’s) are all things I find myself drawn to and if you ask any of my friends they will agree that these are also the things I probably discuss a little too much in everyday conversation. I also have a passion for communication which I believe is the key to all things successful in life. Communication builds community and with community comes open dialogue and that is what has drawn me to FreshRadar and I trust it will do the same for you.
